Last Thursday, the routes for the 2027 Tour de France were unveiled, and I haven’t had time to check them out until today. The men’s race will start in Edinburgh, with the first three stages crossing Scotland, England and Wales before heading to France. Looking at the route, my first impression is that it feels a little short on iconic high-mountain climbs and summit finishes compared with some recent editions. The Alps come first, with the Pyrenees waiting for the final week. On the other hand, we’re getting 71 km of individual TTs, the most since 2012. Something extra for the GC battle comparing the previous editions. As for the Tour de France Femmes, finishing on top of Puy de Dôme looks spectacular. A 170 km final stage with almost 3,800 metres of climbing. Probably the best stage after the WC this year. Have you had a look at the routes yet? What stands out to you?
